Secretary of State
Jarosław Zieliński was born on 20 September 1960 in Szwajcaria (near Suwałki). He is a graduate of Polish philology at the Department of Humanities of the University of Gdańsk. Between 1986 and 2001, he worked in education, inter alia, as a teacher and a chief education officer.
In 2002, he became the mayor of the Warsaw Śródmieście district.
A member of the Sejm of 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th term. On 14 November 2005, he was appointed a Secretary of State at the Ministry of Education and Science. On 6 May 2006, he was dismissed as a result of his resignation (he refused to cooperate with Minister Roman Giertych from the League of Polish Families). From 31 May 2006 until 20 November 2007, he was a Secretary of State at the Ministry of the Interior and Administration and the Government Plenipotentiary for Local Government.
In the Sejm of the 6th term we was a deputy chairman of the Administration and Internal Affairs Committee. He was also a member of the Sejm Special Services Committee (in 2009 he was the chairman of the Committee).
In the years 1981-1986, he was an activist of the Independent Students’ Association. From 1986, he has been a member of the Independent and Self-Governing Trade Union Solidarność; in the years 1989-1990 he was the head of the Training Office of the National Commission of Solidarność in Gdańsk. In the years 1995-2005, 1998-2002, 2002-2003 - a councillor of the City Council in Suwałki. Between 1992 and 2000 – a member of the Board of the Centre Agreement. From 2001 – a member of national authorities of the Law and Justice (currently a member of the Political Committee of the Law and Justice).
Between 2008 and 2009, he was the General Secretary of the Law and Justice. Between 2008 and 2010, he was the chairman of the Ethics Committee of the Law and Justice. From 24 July 2010, he has been the Chairman of the State Work Team of the Law and Justice.
On 18 November 2015, he was appointed a Secretary of State at the Ministry of the Interior and Administration.
